# 2026 October Update 3

DeepSeek gains two web tools in iolys: **Search** to find relevant pages, and **Fetch** to read a page from its URL. Bring current documentation and web references into your conversation while working on your solution in Visual Studio.

## ![DeepSeek logo](https://getiolys.com/img/providers/deepseek.webp) Search the web and read pages

Ask DeepSeek to find documentation, check a library's release notes, or read a link you provide. The new tools help you **bring web information into the same conversation as your code**.

- **Search** finds relevant pages and returns source links and summaries, helping you locate the information you need.
- **Fetch** retrieves a page as readable text, so DeepSeek can use its contents when answering your question.

Both tools are available with the **DeepSeek provider on Flash and Pro**, including in Plan mode. Requests use your DeepSeek API key. Page retrieval depends on the website's availability and access rules.

### Get started

Select your DeepSeek connection and a Flash or Pro model. Open **Tools** and check that `deepseek_search` and `deepseek_fetch` are enabled under **DeepSeek Web Tools**. If you use a custom agent, include these tools in its selection.

Then try: "Find the official documentation for this library and read the page about configuring authentication. Compare it with the setup in my solution."

Flash now uses these tools for web access. Pro also keeps its existing model-native Web Search option.

### Follow web request costs

DeepSeek lists Search and Fetch at **$0.75 per 1,000 successful requests for each tool**, separately from model tokens. Empty search results, failed requests, and timeouts are not billed. See [DeepSeek's Search & Fetch guide](https://api-docs.deepseek.com/guides/search/) for the current terms.

iolys adds $0.00075 per successful, non-empty web request to the turn and session cost estimates, so you can **follow tool fees alongside model usage**. Costs already incurred remain included if the conversation turn later fails or is cancelled. Check your DeepSeek account for actual charges.

## Also improved

- ![DeepSeek logo](https://getiolys.com/img/providers/deepseek.webp){width=24 height=24} **V4 Pro pricing and capabilities** · V4 Pro keeps its own pricing and capabilities after DeepSeek cancelled its retirement, so iolys no longer treats it as Flash.
- **Chat access** · Open iolys from the button in the Visual Studio title bar to return to your conversation in one click.
- **Tool previews** · Hover over a tool call to see a compact summary and its duration, making actions easier to scan.
- ![GitHub logo](https://getiolys.com/img/providers/github.svg){width=24 height=24} **Fewer Git and GitHub interruptions** · Routine history, diff, and pull request inspections need fewer extra confirmations, helping your agent continue its review.
- **Provider settings** · Model choices, favorites, and settings are saved immediately. A failed connection test preserves previously working credentials, making it easier to correct your setup.
- **Visual Studio shutdown** · Pending chat and model-list work is cancelled when closing, fixing cases where the chat could block Visual Studio from exiting.
